Healthcare giant issues ABA support staff warning

Many Medicaid providers may have received a letter from insurance giant Magellan Healthcare noting a significant change in that they will require all Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) support staff to be Registered Behavioral Technicians™ (RBT). The letter specifically states:

“Your staff must hold a RBT™ credential or a state-issued license, certificate or other designation as a behavior technician no later than Sept. 30, 2016, to treat Magellan members.”

Furthermore, the Magellan Healthcare website was updated as follows:

Magellan Healthcare recognizes how important it is that individuals and their families get the best, most effective care possible. And, we are not the only ones looking for enhanced ways to offer such support. As you may know, the Behavior Analyst Certification Board (BACB®) created the Registered Behavior Technician™ (RBT™) credential to complement the Board Certified Behavior Analysts and reflect the education and training required for the duties of a behavior technician. The RBT signifies the high standard of service that our customers and members come to expect.

Therefore, we have revised our ABA criteria for Behavior Analyst Support Staff. Magellan is requiring that behavior analyst support staff that provide ABA services hold a certification of Registered Behavior Technician™ (RBT™) through the BACB® or hold a state-issued license, certificate or other designation as a behavior technician. In addition to the RBT, Magellan accepts the BICC to meet the requirement for paraprofessional certification. Only the behavior analyst support staff who meet these requirements will be eligible to provide direct care services to Magellan members.

To meet this fast approaching deadline, Verbal Behavior Institute offers a Behavior Analyst Certification Board (BACB) certified 40-Hour Online Registered Behavior Technician training course. Our RBT course includes all the training needed to take and pass the BACB’s Competency Assessment Exam and become a Registered Behavior Technician™.

The training program is based on the RBT Task List and is designed to meet the 40-hour training requirement for the RBT credential. The program is offered independent of the BACB.

This training is online therefore you learn at your own pace and on any Internet connected device.

We offer a 100% money back guarantee if you do not believe our training has adequately prepared each candidate for the competency assessment exam.
